The series Bilder von der Straße (Pictures from the Street) is an ongoing project that started in 1982. At the moment it consists of 931 panels (found photographs mounted on board, 29.7×21 cm each).

The idea of finding fragments of the past and piecing them together, collecting moments of stranger’s lives, is so attractive to me. The mystery is in never knowing very much about them, but being the possessor of something that was once theirs, a tangible window into their lives. Basically, I really enjoy your work and as I am about to embark on journey of traveling and living in Europe I am inspired by your work to search every place for fragments of a stranger’s past. Thank you.
